Extra: Congress shutdown in a nutshell

Replace “I’m changing” with “IT’S YOUR FAULT” and this is EXACTLY what Congress seems to be doing right now… *sigh*

Congress didn’t shutdown the government. President Obama shutdown the government.

Congress will pass a budget anytime that Harry Reid and Obama agree to let it pass. It may not have all the things (Obamacare) that they want, but that is the absolute Constitutional right of Congress to fund, or not fund. That is there legitimate power.

So just keep it straight. Congress will fund the government as soon as the obstructionists get out of the way and let them. Obama and Reid are the big cry babbies preventing it.

Obama said elections have consequences. They do and the American people elected the Congress Critters who set the budget.

The President doesn’t have power to make or pass a budget. (I ask that you don’t start a debate over who’s fault it is or why – those arguments turn to bile and sludge faster than a sick guy tossed into a tar pit)

The post is less about the shutdown itself and more about how Congress is handling it. There’s a lot more “this is all your fault!” than there is actual governing and legislating. Both sides are being so mind-bogglingly stupid and ineffectual that I can’t help but blame both.

He has the power to sign a bill passed by Congress. He is threatening to veto it unless he gets exactly what he wants, a blank check.

“The post is less about the shutdown itself and more about how Congress is handling it.”

Currently they are saying they won’t do anything until Obama agrees to negotiate. That seems like a pretty reasonable stance.
